The Otter Valley Video
Steeped in history and set
amongst panoramic rolling landscape, the Otter Valley starts in the Blackdown hills in
Somerset. It progresses down an ever widening and fertile valley before meeting the sea at
the Devon coastal town of Budleigh Salterton.
This 60 minute video reveals the area's colourful history and
ancient customs. Fascinating wildlife footage
includes: a charming scene of badgers playing in the woods of the valley; a young
kingfisher washing and preening itself; barn owls feeding their young at night; the annual
fish migration (AVI).
The
video also features Hayes Barton, the home of one of the most famous Englishmen of all
time as well as ancient battle sites.
Some of the traditions such as lace making and the spectacular flaming tar barrels of Ottery St Mary are still alive today.
